Letters dealing with Beckwith's conquest of Martinique in 1809, including letters from the French commander of Martinique in 1809 and a letter from Lord Castlereagh expressing the government's appreciation to Beckwith. Also, one letter in 1819 from Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, explaining the changes in army policy necessitating Beckwith's retirement as commander in Ireland.
